The Charter Society Pty Ltd is an Australian-registered private company based in Docklands, Melbourne VIC 3008 — a few minutes from the Victoria Harbour berths most of our charters leave from.
We do not own vessels. We are a charter house: our clients give us an occasion and a date, and we take responsibility for turning that into a confirmed charter with a named operator, a written itinerary and a coordinator who answers the phone on the day.
That separation is deliberate. Because we are not selling a particular boat, the shortlist we put in front of you is decided by the brief — guest numbers, boarding point, duration, catering and budget — rather than by what we happen to have sitting at a berth.
Four working habits
None of these are unusual. Doing all four, on every charter, is what the service actually is.
Everything in writing
Inclusions, exclusions, boarding times and cancellation terms go in the confirmation. Verbal arrangements have a habit of changing.
Realistic timings
We plan transits and transfers to the times they actually take, and we say so when a requested itinerary will not fit the hours booked.
Options, then a recommendation
You get a shortlist with the trade-offs spelled out, and our view on which option best fits the brief. The decision stays yours.
Licensed operators only
We charter through commercial operators whose vessels and crew are licensed for the passenger numbers and waters your charter uses.
Local knowledge, used
Which berths a coach can reach, where guests can be set down without a long walk, and which boarding points crowd at peak hour.
Reachable on the day
The coordinator who planned your charter confirms the berth that morning and stays contactable until the last guest is ashore.

Much of our work comes from executive assistants and event managers who need a charter organised alongside twenty other moving parts, and from private clients marking an occasion that has to run properly the first time.
Both want the same thing: a plan that holds, a price with nothing hidden underneath it, and one person to call. That is the whole proposition.
